Social & Ethical Issues

TREAT-NMD is undertaking research to explore, identify and examine ethical and social issues in clinical research of neuromuscular disorders. This research is being carried out by the PEALS Research Centre at Newcastle University. The research group will:
 
    • report on the main ethical concerns and factors affecting risk perception among the members of TREAT-NMD;
       
    • report on views of stakeholders in partner countries on ethical issues and regulatory barriers associated with research into neuromuscular diseases;
       
    • host an international expert symposium on ethical issues and barriers;
       
    • publish training materials and programmes on current issues in ethics, for researchers working with neuromuscular diseases; 
       
    • monitor gender equality in TREAT-NMD.
