TREAT-NMD training course - standards of care in the
management of people with DMD

TREAT-NMD is organizing its fifth on-site training course, which will be held in Bucharest, Romania on March 18, 2011.

The goal of the present course is to raise awareness about Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy among Central-Eastern-European healthcare professionals and the research community, and distribute new information on the latest developments in therapy and standards of care of this disorder.

The topics addressed are as follows:

  • Standards of Care in DMD
  • Respiratory management
  • Cardiac management
  • Steroid treatment
  • The added value of working in multidisciplinary teams
  • Physiotherapy and orthoses
  • Current and future therapies/treatments
  • View and needs of patients/parents/families

The training lectures will be given by leading professionals of this field, who are members of the TREAT-NMD consortium or work as specialists on patient’s care and clinical trials. The course will also offer the opportunity to share the local experience from Romania and neigbouring countries with TREAT-NMD colleagues.
