The UPA! Conference is focused on standards of care and diagnose of Duchenne muscular dystrophy as part of our education program for medical and healthcare professionals, patients and patients’ groups, emphasizing the importance of an early detection and confirmed genetic diagnose, as well as increase awareness.

Friday 13th of May is mostly oriented to the medical community, to increase the knowledge and interest on Duchenne aiming to identify health professionals to become specialists and part of a multidisciplinary team to treat Duchenne which will be encouraged to participate in further training programs.

On Saturday 14th of May a workshop will be held to train parents and healthcare professionals on the recommendations for every day management and care of patients with Duchenne muscular dystrophy at home. They will learn the exercises for their sons, respiratory therapy, use of orthotics, among other topics.

Patients will have the opportunity to have a consultation with the specialists on Duchenne during the event.

At the end of the day patients and families will enjoy a social meeting offering a way to contact other families. It is an opportunity for our children to make new friends and have a great time.
