Considerable effort is being made to establish a data base of DMD patients in Japan.

As a result, a national research group for the registration of DMD patients and for the genetic diagnosis

would be organized by the Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare very soon, whose leader is Dr. Mitsuru Kawai,

a representative doctor in the area of muscular dystrophy.
